I was finally able to recover some of my illustration work from a documentary [Discovering Deerpath] that I was a part of. The team that worked on the doc really pulled together and made something remarkable. The documentary has already received 5 Telly awards... "Best History/Biography" - "Best Copywriting" - "Best Editing" - "Best Sound/Sound Design" - "Best Videography/Cinematography". It won despite over 14,000 entries from over 30 countries! I worked alongside another very talented illustrator, Eric Herkert-Oakland, to complete the 50+ illustrations in a very short time span. Very talented team all-around, so please check them out!
I also created illustrations for another film that just released its official trailer. It looks great and I was floored when my sketches had some 'face' time! Please check it out --> Formosa Betrayed. The trailer does open with a man being shot, it is not graphic, but it may be violent for some people. It has already been accepted into three film festivals: 32nd annual Asian American International Film Festival, New York City, 2009 Montreal World Film Festival, and 2009 San Diego Asian Film Festival.
So very exciting stuff indeed :) I will be adding an additional illustration from the Discovering Deerpath documentary. I also added a self portrait study that I created using my mouse and a mirror. Thankfully I have a tablet now, I don't know that I will ever go back :P
Thank you for taking time to check out my site!
Please contact me if you have any illustration, animation or design needs!

Summer is finally here... |
|
Summer has finally arrived here in Chicago and has caught me being too busy :P
I have two projects on my plate: 1) Designing Wedding Invitations for a girlfriend of mine [with a great black & white color scheme... I may add] and 2) a website for a guy who owns his own rock business... not rock'n'roll, but more like granite counter tops, slate tiles, etc etc. I will post links and images as they are complete.
Recently I had the opportunity to travel with some amazing ladies up to Grand Rapids, Michigan. We went to volunteer with a ministry called Women At Risk [aka W.A.R.]. Women At Risk, International unites and educates women to create circles of protection and hope around women at risk through culturally sensitive, value-added intervention projects. -Women At Risk website
While we were there, we helped at the distribution center. This is where WAR receives all of the beautiful handcrafted items from the women. WAR offers training in baking, sewing and jewelry making so that the women have a skill that helps them bring in their own income and restores dignity to their lives. The website does have an online store where you can purchase these items, so please check it out! -->WAR online store
Finally, I will soon be able to offer customized, Joomla based websites - as soon as the end of July. So if you or someone you know is looking for a great website, please let me know!
In the meantime, eat ice cream and stay out of the heat!
Thanks!

I have added a few more animations to the motion section of the site... you may have to dig a bit for the 'new' ones. It's kind of like an easter egg hunt :)
Right now I am working on a T-shirt design for a group of ladies doing the Breast Cancer walk for Life. At the same time I am going through an interview process for a potential full-time position in a marketing department down here on the South side. I am excited because it sounds like I will get an opportunity to learn even more about web programming as well as actionscript. If I would get the position, I will post more details.
I do hope to get a chance to do one of the 5 sec animations soon since I am starting to feel a bit rusty with AE. We'll see... no promises... :) If you came across this website somehow and are an animator yourself, I would highly recommend participating in these competitions - build your skills and reel + get some exposure, too.
Happy Easter!!

The tree right outside my window is slowly growing leaves. I enjoy watching the progress each day as I wake up. Friday was a beautiful day here in Chicago and I had a blast wandering the city!
I added two more pieces to the illustration section under client work. The T-shirt designs turned out really nice and the client couldn't be happier with the outcome. Always nice to do fun work and have a happy client, too!
Still patiently awaiting news on the job op... in the meantime I hope to get moving on some tutorials [anything from web programming to 3D to some great Photoshop tutorials I came across the other day] As I complete some new work, I will update and post here. Now that my site is up and running, I am hoping to improve the ease of navigation. This will come as I continue to learn more about CSS - I hope to be able to customize this shell even further.
All the best!

so the motion section is up... but definitely a work in progress. I am posting a lot of projects that I have had an opportunity to work on. There is no demo reel as of yet, but there are samples to see what kinds of animations I have done. Recently I have seen Nick Campbell's blog and have been inspired by his 5 second motion challenge. I am hoping to participate soon :) If you haven't seen it, it is definitely worth checking out - for inspiration especially from some very talented motion designers. |
